How did you get involved in wrestling?
When I was 15 I went to NWA UK Hammerlock summer camp in Kent, It was the first time i'd seen a pro wrestling school advertised so I jumped at the chance and went the following 2 camps as well.

Who were some of your favourites growing up?
My all time hero is Bret Hitman Hart, when i started training i was able to tell the wrestlers from the gimmicks and the Hitman wrestled his ass off every night. He brought an element of reallity to his matches, interviews and feuds like no one else, Bret made me believe in wrestling. I idolise that man!

Tell us about your brief experience training in the UK.
It was hell! I was the youngest guy in the camp and knew no one. Jonny Moss and Andre Baker pushed me to the limit every day from 9am to 9pm but i never sat out of any of it. The best trainee got chosen to wrestle on a show at the end of each camp and I was chosen each time i was there. I learnt so much from those guys and still revert back to what they taught me in every match i have.

How did UCW come about?
Between camps myself and Bobby Lee Harm joined a ju jitsu club to keep me ring fit, the promoter knew i wrestled so had me train some guys for a worked tag match at the end of a kick boxing show. The match went well and attracted interest from some of the people in attendance, including the Machine, Stevie Shaker, and Frankie Fever who then came to the club hoping for wrestling training. The promoter (who is a grade A bell end by the way) saw £ signs and started taking a wrestling class. He had no clue what he was doing and treated us like shit so we broke off to form our own wrestling club with me as head coach and UCW was born.

Fond memories of UCW, and not so fond memories.
The night UCW put on its first show, it was in the King's Hall, if it flopped then UCW was dead. We put our whole lives into that show, and every penny we had, we overcame so many obsticles to do that show and it was a success, plus I won the UCW heavyweight title that night. Every show was great craic and I loved all the guys, we got on so well.
The training however became a joke, I had to work at 6am every Sunday morning to get the afternoon off to train the guys. I tried to teach them the basics (lock ups, wrist locks, reversals etc) then i would leave them for a minute then come back to find them trying to do backward hurricanrannas on each other and landing on their heads, they would'nt listen to a fucking word i said and did'nt take into consideration i was training them without being paid for 3 hours every week, FRUSTRATING!! Then the inmates started running the assylum, There would be angles, factions and people involved in the shows that made no sense whatsoever which had'nt been cleared with the owners Igrew tired of it.

Your thoughts on the new UCW and your involvement.
This is Stevie's (Stevie Shaker) baby, he wants to bring it back, i have nothing to do with the running, booking, promoting or training aspects of it but i've made it clear i'll definately wrestle on it providing it does'nt clash with NLW shows because it comes first for me. But it would be great to bring the old team back together because miss it.

How did you get involved in NLW?
Some of our boys had been going to watch CPW cards and met Joe Cabray, Alex Breslin and Anthony Idol. They then started coming to our UCW shows, they were great workers so we started booking them. They then broke off from CPW to form NLW and plucked the best of our guys to wrestle for them, on their first show they threw me in with Idol and Maxer in a 3 way, i've never been so nervous in my life.

What in your opinion led NLW to making you the champion?
I think they needed a fresh face down south to set them apart from the other Irish promotions. Maxer and Paddy were known as NWA boysand Joey and Idol were CPW boys. I was'nt known in Ireland, I had a decent physique and could have decent matches, so it made sense for them to put the title on me. I was honoured to carry the torch and i'm so grateful to the guys who believed in me enough to do it.

What is your favourite match?
My first NLW match against Maxer and Idol, I had heard so much about these guys and really did'nt think i belonged in the same ring as them, plus it was the main event of NLW's first show, the pressure was on. But we went out ther and stole the show, i proved that night that i belonged there. It was a big moment for me and for the UCW boys.

What was the American Wrestling Rampage experience like?
Unbelievable! I got to wrestle Gangrel, Heidenriech and the Sandman in the same week in front of thousands in top class venues! It does'nt get any better than that, it was surreal!!
All the guys were awesome and we had a hell of a week. Again I would like to thank the guys in charge for selecting me to be a part of it.

What are your plans for the future?
NLW and AWR are my future, these guys have given me the oppertunity to live my dream so i'm 100% loyal to them. Between now and the next tour i'm living in the gym, i've tweaked my diet to try and lose the beer belly and i'm gonna be in the best shape of my life. Cant wait to get back in the ring and play heel again, its so easy getting people to hate me and alot of fun.

(28-6-08) "SUICIDE MACHINE" PADDY MORROW INTERVIEW!

Pictured top left: Paddy posing recently for NoLimitWrestling.com / Pictured top right: Paddy as NWA Irish Champion in 2005...he helt the title for 373 days!

Q: Tell us briefly how you got started in Wrestling?
Well being a big fan growing up, i always wanted to be a wrestler. I read a bunch of wrestling magazines looking for adverts for schools and that. I actually sent away for information on an NWA UK Hammerlock summer camp and during my time contimplating going, i heard of a school in Bray that was also a branch of Hammerlock. I went down one Sunday close to six years ago and the rest is history.

Q: What are some of your fondest memories from your early days in NWA Ireland?
Ah, so many !! Mainly the family of friends that I made there. There was no politics or backstabbing, just one big family who got on so well. No one would miss training, or shows and they would literally break their necks for the promotion to suceed. I remember how scared of Fergal Devitt i was, he was a fairly tough bloke to figure out. He was always one of the lads but he gave us all tough love and i think that helped us all alot professionally and personally.

Q: Who would you say has been your biggest influence in Irish Wrestling and indeed who influenced you as you grew up watching wrestling?
Again, Fergal has openned alot of peoples eyes in Irish wrestling since signing with NJPW. I dont think there was one trainee from when i started, or to this day that wasnt or isnt influenced by him. Everything from his style to his build and the way he took everything on board that was thought to him in England is a credit to the hard work and dedication he has for the business. As for growing up, wrestlers like Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart or pretty much anyone who won the Intercontinental title. Those lads who were smaller, and could move fast were always the best actual wrestlers

Q: Shooting forward, you have worked almost every NLW show to date. How did you get started in NLW?
Well when NLW started running shows, the lads basically gave the call up to a bunch of home grown talent from most of the Irish wrestling promotions that they felt half decent and i was lucky to be one of them. I knew at the time that a concept like this would work and would be excellent to get involved in. It meant aswell that there would be opportunities to work other lads from other promotions.

Q: Would you say you have a favourite match in your career thus far?
Ooh, very hard to say. I have a bunch of favourites, all for different reasons. I enjoyed the 3-way Ladder Match against Shooter and Devitt. Had a peach of a match against Johnny Moss in his hometown, any match against Maxer. He pulls the best outta me!!

Q: The American Wrestling rampage tour this past March must have been one of the biggest tours you have been a part of... Can you tell us a little about your experience on the tour?
Ah, the tour was possibly the most fun ive ever had in wrestling! Everything from the coach rides, hotels, matches themselves and the clubbing afterwards. Its mad travelling around with former WWE talent and realising that there human like the rest of us. Their potraited as "larger than life Superstars" when in fact they (Sandman) even fall off seats while sleeping on the bus like the rest of us haha!!

Q: Where else in the world have you wrestled?
I wrestled the majority of my international shows in England. Ive done shows all over Ireland, Scotland aswell as Germany, Canada and parts of the United States.

Q: Some say friends in wrestling are few and far between. Who are some of your closest buddies in the world of Irish wrestling?
Im really close to Robbie Morrissey and Sean Brennan. Fergie D squeezes into that category aswell tho. I could tell them anything. Others like Phil (Boyd), Paul (Tracey), Justy , (Farrell) and (Adam)Abz too.

Q: You have been NWA Ireland Champion before... do you see yourself becoming a singles, or tag, champion again? Perhaps in NLW, NWA or elsewhere?
If i really must shoot with you, last year i promised to pack in the wrestling due to a loss in the family. Just couldnt be bothered with the added wear and tear of the physical side of it. But since the turn of the year, and the frequent running of shows in NLW and AWR (American Wrestling Rampage) I can honestly say that im in the best frame of mind possible. If title opportunities come, sure Id love to represent promotions! Im still climbing the ladder with my performances so you never know what will happen!!
